Recognized globally, Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a concise, third-party verified document that provides transparent and comparable information about the total environmental impact of a product, component or service. EPD adhere to the rigorous ISO 14025 standard for environmental labels and declarations.

As awareness of environmental issues increases, so does the need for thorough climate documentation. An EPD offers one of the most comprehensive ways to present a product's overall environmental impact, and it serves as a valuable tool for promoting transparency and informing consumers.

The basis of the EPD is a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), which examines environmental and resource factors across a product's entire life cycle—from raw material extraction to recycling or end-of-life, along with the environmental impact data specified by a reference Product Category Rule (PCR).ECO-EPD-Logo-rgb.pngKey environmental indicators covered are:

  • Recourse usage: insight into raw materials, energy, and water consumption
  • Recycled content: proportion of recycled materials used
  • Emissions: impact on air, water, and soil
  • Hazardous substances: content and effects on indoor climate
  • Waste treatment: approaches to recycling and waste management

While an EPD does not solely define a product’s sustainability performance, it serves as a crucial tool for decision-making, empowering environmental advisors and purchasers with objective and comparable insights into a product's environmental impact.

To make the EPD as transparent and comprehensive as possible for customers, Blå Station’s EPDs also includes technical information on type of materials, weight, and all related certifications connected to a product.
